New and Returning Adjunct Faculty Reminder Checklist:

                                     _____   DO YOU HAVE A CONTRACT?

planation: No contract can mean either your class was canceled because of low enrollment, a full time resident faculty member bumped you from your assignment because a class of theirs did not run, the VPAA’s office made a decision to cancel unfilled sections, or, you were simply not rehired. No contract also means you cannot access Kean Wise to get your class rosters as well as have your textbooks posted for the students to access… you cannot get a faculty parking decal…and, most importantly you will not be paid the first pay period of this semester.

Action: If you do not have your contract in hand by today, Friday, August 30^th, contact your Executive Director, Chair, or Coordinator immediately. If you cannot reach them contact the Dean’s office of your respective College. Waiting until next week is too late.

_____  DO YOU HAVE YOUR KEAN EMAIL ADDRESS?

Explanation: No contract means no email access, or access to Kean Wise.

Action: Those who taught this past Spring Semester should have no problem accessing your Kean email account. For those who have had a separation, you may need to contact OCIS and have it reactivated. Their phone number is 908-737-6000. If you are new contact Human Resources.

_____  DO YOU HAVE YOUR KEAN FACULTY ID CARD?

Explanation: Kean is slowly becoming keyless and some classrooms and buildings now require access by swiping your Kean ID Card.

               Action: To obtain a Photo ID card, go to Kean’s Human Resources Department.

_____  DID YOU ORDER YOUR BOOKS?

Explanation: Do not presume the department secretary ordered textbooks for your class.

Action: You can contact the Kean Book store via phone 907-737-5320 to confirm your course textbook selections, and quantity of books on the shelf. If you have a contract you can verify it via Kean Wise.  Look for “Book Link” located on the right side of your class.

_____  DID YOU OBTAIN YOUR FACULTY PARKING DECAL?

Explanation: You will be ticketed if you park in designated Faculty Parking Spaces without a Faculty decal.

Action: You must apply online for the decal. Know it takes a few days to process and mail out to you.  Here is the link to apply for a decal.. http://permits.kean.edu/permits/  You need to use your Kean email address and Password.

_____  HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR COURSE SYLLABUS BY THE REQUISITE DEADLINES?

Explanation: Each returning adjunct who received their contract should have received a letter from the VPAA, Dr. Jeff Toney, with deadlines for submission of your course syllabus, as well as links directing them to the Course Syllabus Template required of all faculty. It is important your Chair, Coordinator or E.D. reviews the Course syllabus before classes begin, so the department can post your course syllabus.

Action: If you did receive your contracts within the two week start of the semester (use the postmark on the envelop they mailed your contract in, as the start of the deadline clock, your due date for submission of your Course Syllabus is prior to stepping foot in your classroom. Most Departments require you to email your course syllabus to your Chair, Coordinator or E.D.

               _____ CELL PHONE with the Campus Police number listed

               _____ COPIES OF YOUR APPROVED COURSE SYLLABUS (if you   do not use Bb 9.1)

Since over half of the membership has reported they do not yet have contracts in hand, and the KUAFF does not yet know who is or is not returning to Kean, we are postponing our "MEET, GREET AND EAT SOCIAL" to welcome the 100+ new Adjunct Fauclty as well as all our returning adjunct faculty Colleagues, until Sunday, September 15th.
